Local Events

One of the main attractions at our campground is Highland lake.

Created more than 200 years ago by damming up three ponds, it was used to hold lumber for a
close pin mill. In fact, if you look at the bottom of the lake in shallow areas you’ll still see tree stumps.

Hidden from main roads with no hotels or resorts, the seven mile, 780 acre lake is still easily accessible; especially from Valley Road in the town of Washington. Highland Lake Association maintains two public beaches that our campers have free access to. We also have our own beach, only a mile and a half down the road.

Fishing is a joy at Highland Lake. Enjoy large-mouth and small-mouth bass, pickerel, black crappie, sunfish, yellow and white perch, brown bullhead, golden shiners and suckers. There is also water skiing on the lake and personal watercraft are allowed. Canoeing and kayaking are big because of the private coves.

Enjoy access to all this beauty and water activity from Idle Times Campground

We are close to the Highland Lake Marina, where you can put your boat or jet ski into the lake.

But if it’s time to leave the campground and explore the local area, there are many activities and events to enjoy. Winter, spring, summer or fall – Idle Times Campground is a great “home base”.
